Communication Arts Magazine Announces Winners of its 62nd Photography Annual Competition
Those of you who work in the field of visual arts, which includes photography, illustration, graphic art and design certainly know of the renowned journal, Communication Arts (CA), which, like the prestigious publication, GRAPHIS, conducts an annual contest for the very best work entered for the year.
This year there were 2,328 submissions for this year’s CA Annual. We just received the news that 10 of my images, from two separate projects, are among the 109 projects selected for inclusion in the 2021 Communication Arts Photography Annual. I’m very happy to share them with you.
The first series was made underwater. The first three with six members of the United States Olympic Synchronized Swim Team: Tamara Crow, Erin Dobratz, Becky Jasontek, Anna Kozlova, Lauren McFall and Kendra Zanotto.

This is how I made image #2489: One assistant held the toes of one and the other assistant held the finger tips of another. Get it?
Underwater Study #2493
During the session I called these special athlete-performers over to the side of the pool to show them (in the underwater camera in its water-proof housing) the images we created.
The last two images were made with professional dancers.

The second group of images chosen for the Annual derive from my on-going studies of the human body.
These images will be shared tomorrow.
