Given the current worldwide, significant and valid concerns over the Coronavirus, I thought about the interview I did with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious disease, NIAID, a few months ago, and was reminded what a scrupulous genius he is.

Then I heard on Thursday of last week that the President and his chief of staff have told Dr. Fauci not to make statements or answer questions about the coronavirus to the press without clearing it first through the White House. Incredible that they think they can control the thinking of our populace by withholding or shading the facts. Concerned about wealth (the falling value of the Stock market) and the November election, it seems they’ve decided to downplay the danger the public might face.

On Seeing, A Journal #343

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID)

March 3rd, 2020

I thought (and this was a suggestion of my dear friend and filmmaker Blair Gershkow) that it would be of value to post the Fauci interview once more.  He discusses a healthy, professional relationship he had with the first President Bush and his concern about “emerging” microbes, and public health outbreaks.

I wish to acknowledge a number of people who helped me to prepare for the interview: Tom Hennes, Brian D. Golden, M.D.,  Porter W Anderson, Jr, PhD., Lee Jampol, M.D.,  Mitchell Charap, M.D.  and Jack DeHovitz, M.D.

The participants in this project have been selected for their exceptional achievements; they include scientists, authors, playwrights, designers, musicians, artists, philosophers, etc.
