One of my first and most important discoveries during my initial explorations of the visual world underwater was that when water meets air a reflection occurs. This is true for every air/water interface, whether on the water’s surface, under or over water, on droplets of water on the skin or other surfaces, or even on the light reflex seen on the cornea, which has a thin layer of fluid.

And so, utilizing this phenomenon, I began to make images that were in some part mirror games. In this picture, two people – with their heads out of the water – make the letter “O” with half of the circle contributed by reflection.
